Picture books of the sky

Sky Scouts

Picture books about the sky for curious kids, ages 8 to 11, and guides for 12 and up, in multiple languages.

0 / 7Can you find the Big Dipper? Tap its seven stars.

What is Sky Scouts?

Books that send you outside.

Picture books about the real night sky. Etta and Gus go out with Nox the owl and Blink the firefly and work out what they see: why the Moon changes shape, where shooting stars come from, how to find your way by the stars.

Every sky in the books is a real sky, worked out for a real place and a real night, and every page is drawn in code, star by star. Each book ends with a mission for the next clear night.

The books are not in the shops yet. Write to us, and we will tell you once, when they are out.

Tell me when they are out

For parents

Read it together, then go out together.

  • Thirty-three square books, 8.5 × 8.5 inches, each with forty pages inside.
  • Ages 8 to 11: the core books and People and the Sky. Ages 12 and up: Night Guides and The Sky Wheel.
  • Every sky in them is a real sky, worked out for a date and a place. No star pattern is made up.
  • Each core book and each People and the Sky book ends with a mission: things to find, to tell apart and to explain.
  • The words of twenty-eight of the books are also translated into eleven languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Czech, Norwegian, Polish and Chinese.
  • A rule of every book: no tip ever has anyone look at the Sun.
  • To begin, a clear night and warm clothes are enough: no telescope is needed to start looking.
  • Go out together. A grown-up who knows where you are is part of every night out.
